The Carol Valles Legacy Society works to secure the success, sustainability and future of the USA Artistic Swimming Foundation for generations through a lasting legacy of planned giving, donor recognition and stewardship.
The purpose of the Carol Valles Legacy Society is to recognize those individuals and families who have remembered the USA Artistic Swimming Foundation in their estate plans through a documented planned gift of a life insurance designation or an estate bequest. Additionally, the Carol Valles Legacy Society serves to make visible to members, families and friends the donor’s dedication and commitment to USA Artistic Swimming. Planned giving is an invaluable way to help secure its success, sustainability and future for generations of young artistic swimmers to come.
All new members of the Carol Valles Legacy Society who join by December 31, 2024 will be designated as Charter Members. Charter Members are the foundation of the Legacy Society and as such are critical to building the program and establishing it as a powerful pillar of the future sustainability of USA Artistic Swimming.

Established in 2021, the USA Artistic Swimming Foundation Legacy Society is led by a committee of dedicated leaders and donors. The Legacy Society is named after Carol Valles, long-time patron of USA Artistic Swimming and the USA Artistic Swimming Foundation for more than 40 years.
In 1978 Carol was asked to work on the U.S. Championships, and she was hooked. Having been a Girl Scout leader for 15 years, she turned her energies and support to synchronized swimming. Carol founded the New Canaan Aquianas, and even after both of her daughters retired, Carol has continued to support the Foundation. Carol is the greatest benefactor of the Foundation, and in September 2021 she will be one of the first people to receive a Synchro Loyal pin for 20 years of continuous giving to the Foundation.

A long-time goal of mine has been for USA Artistic Swimming to be self-supporting and not having to rely on any outside funding source. That goal still drives my efforts today. I want the NGB to be able to support programs at all levels from Recreational/Novice to Collegiate to Elite to Masters. We have a lifelong activity in which any person is able to enter at any age and at any skill level. What better way to be healthy and challenged throughout a lifetime? So, I put Artistic Swimming in my will with the goal of being able to support myself through retirement and ultimately benefit a whole world of fun, active people.

The United States Artistic Swimming Foundation has impressed me with its support of all levels of competitions. I knew that I wanted to continue my support of this organization both now and in the future; as a result, I have the United States Artistic Swimming Foundation as a beneficiary in my Charitable Remainder Trust.

While other sports teach individual excellence and/or teamwork, Artistic Swimming teaches both – plus many other seemingly disparate skills that are valuable in life. It matches individual excellence with the ability to exactly match others, the value of attention to the whole coupled with attention to detail, creative thinking coupled with analytical thinking – all of this in the context of hard work and perseverance. In supporting the USA Artistic Swimming Foundation, I am supporting the continuance of a sport that teaches amazing life skills, and that was also an important part of my life.
